Indoor Kumquats!

Do you have fruit trees/plants growing in your house? A lot of people enjoy having house plants, but... why not enjoy ones that give something back?

I recently read fun book, Growing Tasty Tropical Plants. It talks about growing all kinds of tropical plants in any home... including bananas and pineapples! Did you know there is such thing as a "Peanut Butter Plant?!"

Anyways, we've been enjoying plenty of kumquats over the past few weeks. :) The plant/tree is just about 2.5' tall and 1/5' wide... but there were 45 kumquats total!

What types of "houseplants" do you have? :)

  2. I have never grown fruit inside, but that is an interesting idea, and I always loved the thought of the Victorian conservatories. The kumquat is one of our favorite trees and we have always had one planted where ever we have lived. They do well here in our valley. The variety we have is 'Nagami". I know you will enjoy your tree!

  3. I don't think I've ever eaten a kumquat, but they're really pretty. I'll have to pick up that book.
I started an avocado tree from a pit about a year ago, so in a few more years I'll have some avocados - fingers crossed.
I also have some indoor edibles on the way... blog post on those soon.
